Childhood
Scarlett was born to Danish architect Karsten Johansson and Melanie Sloan. She has a twin brother named Hunter, plus older siblings Adrian and Vanessa. She was named after the heroine Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone with the Wind." The family called Manhattan home. Scarlett was especially close to her maternal grandmother, accountant Dorothy Sloan.
Early Roles
Scarlett's parents introduced their children to the arts world while they were still toddlers. The family brought the twins to a commercial casting, but only their older brother Adrian caught the director's eye. But this experience ignited young Scarlett's deep desire to become an actress.
In 1994, 10-year-old Scarlett Johansson made her film debut in "North" alongside rising actor Elijah Wood. In 2018, Scarlett snagged the lead in Rupert Sanders' "Rub & Tug." The title refers to a sexual service, typically offered for extra money at massage parlors. She was set to play real-life transgender figure Jean Marie Gill, who operated a massage parlor and brothel in 1970s America. Born in a female body, Jean transitioned to a male and had a girlfriend.Natasha is a bit different than the average superhero. She has a different moral compass, even compared to Cap. She understands the balance between darkness and light. She doesn't have the same mindset as Cap. She sees the world differently, yet they share a common goal.

August 2019 brought Scarlett to American screens in festival darling "Marriage Story." Opposite Adam Driver, she played half of a divorcing couple whose split becomes a high-stakes legal thriller. The filmmakers cleverly released two trailers, each told from one spouse's point of view.

In 2021, the standalone film "Black Widow" premiered. Scarlett's fee for the movie was $20 million.
Music Career
Early in her acting career, Scarlett appeared in music videos for Justin Timberlake and Bob Dylan. In 2007, Pete Yorn invited Johansson to collaborate on an album. Yorn admitted he initially worried Scarlett couldn't sing and even had a backup plan with Zooey Deschanel. But those fears proved unfounded – Johansson delivered a pure and powerful voice. Finally, her husband Colin Jost put the rumors to rest during a Connecticut show, confirming they were expecting. The baby was born on August 18, 2021. The couple named him Cosmo. It's the first child together for the "Avengers" star and the 39-year-old comedian.

"Black Widow" was Scarlett's Marvel swan song. After playing Natasha Romanoff for a decade, she calls it a unique experience but says, "The chapter is closed. I've done everything I had to do."
