At 48, Jolie reveals that the ordeal took a toll on her health. "My body reacts intensely to stress. My blood sugar fluctuates wildly. Just before the divorce, I suddenly developed Bell's palsy," she confided.
During the filming of "Maleficent" in 2018, Jolie noticed changes in her voice. Now, close friend of Salma Hayek, she's preparing for her role as the legendary opera diva Maria Callas in the biopic "Maria." Jolie admits feeling a bit scared to take on this role after her previous struggles. The divorce process also curtailed her travels. "I lost the ability to live and travel freely post-divorce. I'll move as soon as I can," Jolie stated.
Jolie also expressed a desire to leave Hollywood behind. She plans to finish current projects, including the third part of "Maleficent," and her legal battles, before moving to Cambodia, where she owns a home.
Post-divorce, Jolie took a step back from her career, appearing in only five films over seven years, to help her family heal. She's now focusing on Atelier Jolie, her fashion house, and developing educational sewing courses. It’s part of what happened after my divorce - I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can. I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.
Despite potential financial losses, Jolie remains committed to her new venture.
I’ll probably lose money, maybe even for a while. If I can eventually put into practice some things that I think are improvements and I just break even, that’s a huge victory, she told WSJ, as quoted by Daily Mail.
Brad Pitt recently accused Jolie of provoking their son to publicly insult him.
