Biography of Zayn Malik
Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik is a pop singer, songwriter, model, and former member of the English-Irish boy band One Direction.
Childhood
Zayn was born on January 12, 1993, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. His mother, Tricia Malik, is English and converted to Islam when she married. She worked as a halal chef at a local elementary school. His father, Yaser Malik, is of Pakistani descent. His parents raised him alongside three sisters.
Career
In 2010, Zayn headed to Manchester to audition for the singing competition X-Factor. He performed the hit song "Let Me Love You" from American R&B singer Mario's 2004 album "Turning Point" for his audition. All three judges - Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger - gave him a resounding 'yes,' impressed by his performance.

The musicians made a world tour: they traveled around Britain, New Zealand, North America, and Australia. The young and talented band consistently sold out venues wherever they performed. A year later, their follow-up album "Take Me Home" dominated charts in 35 countries, including Britain, France, Spain, and Australia. The album's lead single "Live While We're Young" hit #1 on iTunes charts in 40 countries and was hailed as "pop perfection."

The band's third concert tour spanned multiple cities across Colombia, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and beyond. The tour concluded in the US, generating over $280 million in total revenue. Their fourth album «Four», like the previous ones, was the leader on the American chart.
Solo Career
In March 2015, Zayn left the band. One of the reasons for his exit from the group was the singer's inability to express himself in music the way he would have liked in One Direction. The band performed in the genre of pop-rock, but he preferred to focus on R&B in his work.

He collaborated with other artists, contributing to the release of «Cruel» by electro-R&B duo Snakehips, in the creation of the single «Freedum» by British rapper M.I.A. In August, men's magazine GQ featured an exclusive interview and photoshoot with the star. In December, the single "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", from the "Fifty Shades Darker" soundtrack, was released and performed by Zayn together with the famous singer Taylor Swift. It took second place on the Billboard Hot 100.
n January 2017, a single «I Do not Wanna Live Forever», for the soundtrack of «Fifty Shades Darker», was released by Zayn and Taylor Swift. The music video features Zayn and Taylor destroying their respective hotel rooms. The video racked up hundreds of millions of views by March. He also dropped "Still Got Time" with Canadian rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR, which became a top 20 hit worldwide.

Personal life of Zayn Malik
During his time on «X-factor», the 17-year-old singer dated fellow contestants: first 20-year-old Geneva Lane, then 23-year-old Rebecca Ferguson. In 2012, he began dating Perrie Edwards. They got engaged a year later but split in summer 2015.
