Andrew Garfield is a popular American actor who gained worldwide fame for his role as Spider-Man in the film of the same name directed by Marc Webb (2012). He is a BAFTA TV Award winner (2008) for his performance in "Boy A" and a Golden Globe nominee (2017) for his role as Desmond Doss in Mel Gibson's film "Hacksaw Ridge".Childhood and Adolescent Years
Andrew was born in sunny California to an English mother and an American father of Jewish descent. His paternal ancestors hailed from Russia and Poland, and they were the ones who changed the family name from "Garfinkeln" to "Garfield".When the boy turned three, the family moved to the United Kingdom, to the town of Epsom, located in Surrey County.
Then came studying at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, which Andrew successfully graduated from in 2004. That marked the beginning of his professional theatre career. Critics warmly received his first roles in plays and awarded him the title of "Outstanding Newcomer" in 2005.
Around the same time, Andrew made his television debut, starring in the comedy series "Sugar Rush", which won an Emmy Award and was a good start for his further film career.

In 2007, the young actor starred in two feature films. In the first, Robert Redford's anti-war film "Lions for Lambs," he portrayed student Todd Hayes, sharing the set with Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep.In 2020, Andrew worked on the film "Mainstream", which tells the story of numerous anonymous stars' rise to the top of the internet space. Alongside him in the movie were Maya Hawke and Nat Wolff. The premiere, like the filming, was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and was moved to 2021.
