Caleb Landry Jones Biography
Caleb Landry Jones is an American film and television actor and musician who's appeared in more than 20 films and TV series since 2007. Jones first gained recognition in 2011 after appearing in the latest "X-Men" franchise installment.
Family and Early Years
Caleb was born on December 7, 1989, in Garland, Texas, to parents Patrick and Cindy Jones. He's an only child. A few years later, the Jones family moved to nearby Richardson in Dallas County, where Caleb attended school and spent his childhood.During his school years, Caleb got into music. He eventually formed a band called Robert Jones Band with his friend Robert Hudson, serving as both vocalist and drummer. The duo played experimental folk music. His parents supported Caleb's passion, with his father even buying a drum kit for the band.

Jones spent time writing his own folk songs, and after Robert Jones Band dissolved when his friend headed off to college, he tried pursuing music solo. He later called this period "the most wonderful chapter because I learned I could actually do this" in an interview.
Acting Career
Caleb didn't have to wait too long for his acting debut: in 2007, he appeared in the Coen Brothers' Oscar-winning thriller "No Country for Old Men," though in the small role of "boy on bicycle." His parts in several subsequent films ("The Outsiders," David Fincher's "The Social Network," and others) were also minor, so Caleb's screen appearances went largely unnoticed by audiences.

Also in 2017, Caleb landed a supporting role in the crime action film "American Made" with Tom Cruise, playing one of America's wealthiest men, pilot Barry Seal.
2018 brought the first premiere featuring the distinctive Caleb Jones – the thriller "Welcome the Stranger," where the actor starred alongside rising stars Abby Lee and Riley Keough. This mystical drama about the complex and mysterious relationships between a guy named Ethan, his girlfriend, and his sister struck critics as overly pretentious and undeserving of the attention its creators were desperately seeking.

That same year, the actor appeared in several other films, including Jim Jarmusch's zombie comedy "The Dead Don't Die." And here's where something happened that would completely transform Jones' creative destiny. Jarmusch didn't just give him a role – he introduced the budding musician to the right people in the recording industry.

The album turned out solid – a full 15 tracks of psychedelic rock. Jones recorded it in Los Angeles and played virtually all the instrumental parts himself. The cover featured him as an 18th-century aristocrat with a powdered face and cigarette in hand – artwork by his artist girlfriend Katya Zvereva. The music videos for the album's songs were equally psychedelic.
Director Justin Kurzel set the actor an incredibly complex task: portray someone who committed a monstrous crime without turning him into a caricature or an object of hatred. Jones delivered brilliantly – his character came across as terrifying yet simultaneously pitiable. At the following Cannes Film Festival, Caleb Landry Jones won the award for Best Actor.

Besson was captivated by the American actor. The French director later admitted that right after wrapping "Dogman," he started thinking about what other role he could cast Jones in. That's when the Dracula idea hit him.
Filming on Besson's new movie began in spring 2024 in snow-covered Finland. "Dracula: A Love Story" was meant to be a romantic take on the classic tale – a love story that spans centuries.

Besson explained his approach simply: Bram Stoker's original novel has this eternal love storyline that nobody had really explored properly on screen before. The French director decided to fix that oversight.
The film hit French theaters in late July 2025. Critics were split – some saw it as a masterpiece, others dismissed it as a failed copy of Coppola's '90s version. Audiences were more forgiving, especially when it came to praising Jones's performance.
