HBO Releases First Behind-the-Scenes Photo from "Harry Potter" Series and Reveals New Cast Members

Warner Bros. announced that HBO has officially begun filming the "Harry Potter" series. The first photo from the set shows Dominic McLaughlin as the boy who lived.

First Photo from Set

Dominic stands in school uniform (presumably Gryffindor): cloak, vest, red tie — all according to canon. He's holding a clapperboard dated July 14th marked "episode 101, scene 1," and beneath his dark hair, above round glasses, you can see the famous scar.

So far, no flaws are visible. Harry's book appearance is fully maintained and even somewhat reminiscent of the look from the first franchise with Daniel Radcliffe.

New Actors

HBO also announced that Mr. Ollivander will be played by Anton Lesser ("Game of Thrones"), while Rolanda Hooch will be portrayed by Louise Brealey, the same Molly from "Sherlock."

The role of Dudley Dursley will be played by Amos Kitson, and Neville Longbottom by Rory Wilmot.

About the Series

The project is conceived as a series where each season adapts one book. This means the story will have more details and time for character development.

Francesca Gardiner (who worked on "Succession") is overseeing the script, while Mark Mylod will direct some episodes — he was also behind "The Menu" and "Game of Thrones." J.K. Rowling is among the producers.

Besides Dominic, the main characters will be played by Arabella Stanton (Hermione) and Alastair Stout (Ron). Earlier, we at zoomboola.com covered which actors will play supporting characters in the series. You can read about it here and here.
