Johnny Depp Being Courted to Return to Pirates of the Caribbean. Is There Any Chance?

The actor was ousted from Disney projects following the Amber Heard scandal, but the situation has changed over time. Now Depp is in demand again.

Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly that he's been discussing with the actor his possible return to the iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow. This could happen in the sixth "Pirates" movie. According to the producer, hasn't ruled it out, but everything depends on whether he likes the script.

It's worth noting that work on the sixth installment of the pirate saga has been ongoing since 2019. Bruckheimer mentioned that the new "Pirates" will be a "reboot" of the series. Nevertheless, the creators really want to get Jack Sparrow back, even if his appearance ends up being just a small cameo. As zoomboola.com learned, the film's script isn't finished yet. An entire team is working on it, including Craig Mazin, Ted Elliott, and Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the script for the fifth part of the saga (which came out back in 2017).

Depp himself, during the heat of his legal battles against Amber Heard, stated that he wouldn't return to his signature role for any amount of money.
