Apple Unveils Poster for 2025's Most Mysterious Series from the Creator of "Breaking Bad". Here Are 4 Theories About What It's About

A video with a poster on Apple TV+'s YouTube channel shows a countdown to July 25th, when additional details will apparently be revealed. The poster features a petri dish, a cotton swab, and the tagline "Happiness is contagious."

We're getting a sci-fi thriller called "Wycaro 339" starring Rhea Seehorn. It's directed by Vince Gilligan, creator of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul". According to Comicbook, his new project is being compared to "The X-Files".

The plot's officially under wraps, but we can make some educated guesses. Here are four theories about what might be the year's most mysterious series.

The happiness virus isn't a metaphor

The tagline "Happiness is contagious" hints that we're dealing with an actual infection, not just abstract concepts – and those medical instruments on the poster back that up.

In the first episode, Gilligan says, "the world changes very suddenly." What if someone engineered a bacteria that triggers artificial euphoria – and now humanity's getting infected with happiness, losing the ability to think critically?

A world without misery – dystopia much?

Gilligan noted: "There's no crime here [in the series], no controlled substances." Sounds like the opposite of the "Breaking Bad" world, but it's too perfect to be real.

Maybe "Wycaro" will show us a utopia where everyone's smiling, but underneath lurks total control – classic "Twilight Zone" or "Black Mirror" territory.

It's not a virus – it's a new form of consciousness

Judging by the poster's aesthetic, we might be looking at something that changes human nature itself.

Maybe it's a new way of thinking that "infects" people. Or technology that can reprogram emotions. That's exactly the kind of twist we'd expect from Gilligan, who cut his teeth on "The X-Files" (he was a writer and producer there).

It's actually all about loneliness

Despite the sci-fi wrapper, "Wycaro" might be a story about alienation. About how in a world full of artificially created happiness, it becomes impossible to feel anything real. And about people who, against all odds, want to reclaim their right to be sad, to doubt, to suffer – in other words, to be alive.

Vince's new project premieres on Apple TV+ by the end of 2025. The series already got picked up for two seasons straight. While we wait, we're watching that countdown on the teaser tick down to zero – hopefully giving us answers to all our questions. Earlier, we at zoomboola.com covered five series with Bryan Cranston if you're tired of "Breaking Bad".
