Biography of Artemas
Artemas has emerged as a genuine musical phenomenon. The young artist launched his career during one of the entertainment industry's most challenging periods – the COVID-19 pandemic – yet still managed to achieve rapid success. Critics have noted that his hits channel the sound of '90s bands like Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers. There's good reason for that: Kurt Cobain and his band inspired Artemas to create. He wraps R&B songs in a dark aesthetic, and with those memorable hooks, his singles have exploded across social media.
Early Years
Artemas Diamandis was born September 23, 1999, in a small Oxfordshire village in England. He has mixed English and Cypriot heritage. In 2005, his parents insisted he take piano lessons. At the time though, he dreamed of becoming an actor, not a musician. Everything changed in 2015 when Artemas discovered the documentary "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck."
The rocker's story inspired the 16-year-old teenager. "I want to be like him. I want to write music. I want to play shows," he decided. So he began writing songs, accompanying himself on guitar and piano.
Musical Career
In 2016, the young singer released a track under the mononym Artemas, which he later called a "very bad rock song." Still, it received extensive airplay on local radio. The pandemic, which devastated the entertainment industry, actually gave Artemas a chance to hone his skills and work on new material without distractions. He spent entire days in his bedroom-turned-home studio, and by November 2020, he scored his first success with the "alternative R&B" single 'High 4 U.'
The self-taught multi-instrumentalist grinded throughout the following year, releasing five songs. One of them, 'Sunny,' made it to Spotify's New Music Friday playlist. "I can't believe it. I didn't expect this, but it feels amazing," the artist said about the milestone.
In October 2023, Artemas' track 'If U Think I'm Pretty' went viral on TikTok and then dominated global charts—from Australia and Britain to Poland and Switzerland. Music critics began hailing Diamandis as a phenomenon—an artist crafting dark hits with unforgettable hooks.
