Margot Robbie to Star in "Attack of the 50-Foot Woman" Remake

Besides starring in the film, the "Barbie" and "Birds of Prey" star will also serve as producer on the project.

According to The InSneider, Tim Burton is set to direct the film. The project was first announced back in February 2024, when it was reported that Gillian Flynn, who wrote the screenplay for "Gone Girl," would handle the remake of the cult classic. Now it's emerged that work on the film continues, with Warner Bros. searching for a new screenwriter to take the script to its final version.

The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers that the original sci-fi film was released in 1958. The movie told the story of a wealthy but alcoholic woman whose cheating husband was scheming to get his hands on her fortune. At one point, Nancy gets exposed to radiation from an alien spacecraft and grows to gigantic proportions. In this transformed state, the normally quiet woman is ready to fight back against her husband. Hollywood first tried to remake the cult film back in the 1980s, but the process never got off the ground. In 1993, HBO created its own version of "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman," but it was a complete flop. Whether this attempt will fare better remains to be seen.
