"Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt is seriously settling into the animation world. After the success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023) and "The Garfield Movie" (2024), he's returning to voice the orange favorite of millions — in the animated sequel. The follow-up is already in development.
Alcon Entertainment has officially confirmed that Chris Pratt will once again voice Garfield in the sequel to the animated film that collected over $260 million worldwide in May 2024. Sony will handle international distribution again, and Pratt will also serve as one of the producers this time, reports Deadline.
What's Up with the Team
Producers are currently selecting a screenwriter and director. The first film was directed by Mark Dindal, who previously made "The Emperor's New Groove" and "Chicken Little," so we can expect his return. In the original film, Pratt was joined by voice cast members Samuel L. Jackson, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, and even Snoop Dogg — it's likely some of them will return.
Who Else Is on Board
The film will once again be produced by John Cohen ("Despicable Me," "The Garfield Movie"), Steven Wegner, and Alcon co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

A Bit About Garfield
Garfield is one of pop culture's most recognizable characters. Jim Davis's comic strip about the lazy, sarcastic, and perpetually hungry cat has been running since 1978.Besides Garfield, the story centers on his kind-hearted but clumsy owner Jon and dog Odie, whom the cat regularly pranks.
In the sequel, we'll likely see the development of relationships between characters and new adventures for Garfield — as always, never straying far from the nearest refrigerator.
What's Next?
There aren't any plot details yet, but given the first film's success and Chris Pratt's involvement, the project will clearly be one of the major animated releases in the coming years. The script is being written, the cast is forming, and it looks like Garfield will soon remind the world again why Mondays are evil. Earlier, we at zoomboola.com reported on the development of the second season of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
