Ridley Scott steps back from the Alien franchise

The creator of the very first movie about a space monster does not want to work on sequels. We find out why.

In 1979, the first "Alien," directed by Ridley Scott, was released. The film won an Oscar for visual effects, was included in the U.S. National Film Registry, and generally holds top positions in sci-fi film rankings. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 93% critic rating, while audiences rated it at 94%.

In the 2010s, after four Alien movies had been made, returned to the franchise and created two prequels to the original horror filmб "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant." However, although he continues to produce films about space monsters, he no longer wants to direct them.

The director noted that he is very fond of his first film, as well as the sequel directed by James Cameron, but after that, the francise "hit a dead end." He tried to revive it with two more films but does not plan to continue, as he believes he has done "enough." The words of the 87-year-old filmmaker are quoted by Screen Rant. Zoomboola.com reports that in 2024, the film "Alien: Romulus" was released, well-received by critics and audiences. The premiere of a series"Alien: Earth," is scheduled for August. As the title suggests, this time the action will take place on our planet.
