James Franco`s brother Dave clings to his girlfriend`s body in the trailer for the body horror `Together`

What did the creators show in the two-minute trailer of the most anticipated horror of recent years? And what two genres did the film combine? We tell you.

Perhaps one of the strangest—and at the same time most anticipated—horrors of the year got a full trailer on April 5. And judging by the first frames, we are dealing not just with a frightening and intangible horror, but with something truly corporeal—in the literal sense of the word.

The film "Together" debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025 and was immediately acquired by Neon. The lead roles are played by (the brother of James Franco) and his on-screen and real-life wife, actress Alison Brie.

Their characters, Tim and Millie, decide to escape the city and start anew in the countryside. However, instead of peace, they encounter something—or someone—unknown and unnatural. What follows is tension, fear, and... literal merging.

The title itself, "Together," hints at this. In the trailer's finale, the characters begin to literally merge with each other, sticking together with body parts.

Why? For what purpose? To what limits? There are no answers yet, but visually it is impressive and frightening at the same time. It's something rarely seen in a genre that has already witnessed a lot.

Interestingly, director Michael Shank took on a bold genre hybrid—a horror spiced with elements of romantic comedy. And judging by the initial reactions, the gamble paid off: the film currently holds a perfect 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That's higher than the cult classics "Schindler's List" (98%), "The Godfather" (97%), and "The Silence of the Lambs" (95%).

The trailer lasts only two minutes, but in that time it manages to evoke the very "sticky" anxiety we so value in body horror. The visuals are almost surreal at times, and the final frames, when Millie picks up a saw, suggest that the film is also somewhat of a slasher.

The premiere is expected on July 30 of this year. Honestly, it's hard to pass up something like this. At the very least, to understand how far the genre is willing to go this time, having set a new standard with the release of "Substance" (2024).
