The series `Desperate Housewives` will be rebooted with different characters

Will the actresses from the original project return to their roles? Which of the show's creators will participate in the development and what will the new film be about? We explain.

The series is being developed by the company Onyx Collective. The new project is titled "Wisteria Lane" and will tell about the lives of the residents of the famous street where the events of the original show took place.

The producer of the upcoming series will be actress Kerry Washington, known for the films "Django Unchained" and "The Last King of Scotland."

The creator and former executive producer of "Desperate Housewives," Marc Cherry, is not directly involved in the development yet, but according to Deadline, he is aware of the project and may be brought on board.

Last year, Cherry noted that he was often approached with requests for a reboot: interest in the story remains even 13 years after the finale of the eighth season.

Fans and main cast members, including Eva Longoria, have repeatedly expressed a desire to return to the project. However, the appearance of characters from the original version is not planned in the new series.

The new series is expected to be a "fun, sexy, darkly comedic detective in the spirit of 'Desperate Housewives'."

Let us remind you that the original "Desperate Housewives" aired from 2004 to 2012. The project told the stories of friends from the town of Fairview and became one of the most successful projects of its time, winning Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
