She's an official L'Oreal spokesperson, model, producer, restaurateur, and writer. As a child, she saw herself as an ugly duckling and even wondered if she was adopted, but now she's considered one of the world's most attractive and sexiest women. She's won the People's Choice Award as favorite TV star and the ALMA Award for "Person of the Year."

Childhood, Youth, Family

Eva Jacqueline Longoria was born in the spring of 1975 to Enrique Longoria and Ella Eva Mireles in Corpus Christi, Texas. Eva's great-great-grandfather, Lorenzo Suarez de Longoria, was born in Mexico in 1592 and later immigrated to New Spain with his parents, settling in the small village of Longoria in the Spanish municipality of Belmonte-de-Miranda.

As the youngest girl in the family, Eva grew up with three older sisters: Elizabeth Judina, Emily Jeanette, and Esmeralda Josephina. According to the actress, despite being poor, their home was filled with love and structure.

Her eldest sister, nicknamed Lisa at home, was born prematurely and had developmental disabilities. She had a huge impact on how Eva saw the world. Watching her sister tackle daily challenges and celebrate small victories inspired Eva. She pushed herself to excel in school and pitched in around the house.

Much later, Eva recalled:
My mom started working at a school helping teachers with special needs children, like my sister. Despite dedicating herself completely to these kids, my mom still managed to cook dinner for six people every day. My father, a military engineer, would come home expecting everything to be in order. Comfort, love, respect for each other – that was our family atmosphere. Emily and Esmeralda, my other two sisters, were also role models for me. Emily was a math whiz who aced her exams and got into a prestigious university. There was never any question that I'd get a college education too.
After high school, Eva earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Kingsville University. She got her master's degree later than her sisters, but she won her hometown's beauty contest. The crown came with a trip to Los Angeles to compete in modeling and acting contests.

Eva wasn't naive – she knew these events weren't an automatic ticket to Hollywood. She treated the trip like a vacation, but to her surprise, she won contest after contest and soon had agents lining up for her.

Career Path

Like most aspiring actresses, Eva's first roles were small parts. Longoria was one of hundreds of Hollywood hopefuls living the semi-starving lifestyle, going to auditions, working TV gigs, and doing extra work.

She made her debut in the TV series "Beverly Hills, 90210" in 2000, playing a stewardess in a guest role. She then landed minor roles in "General Hospital" and "Mad TV" before being cast as the capricious and sarcastic Isabella Brana Williams in "The Young and the Restless".

Persistent and hardworking, Eva didn't shy away from stereotypical fiery Latina roles. She modeled for fashion magazines until 2003, when she landed a lead role in the new series "Desperate Housewives". Her character, Gabrielle Solis, is a glamorous lady. She married for money and carried on an affair behind her husband's back with a young gardener, played by Jesse Metcalfe.

Alongside Nina Dobrev and Vanessa Hudgens, Eva appeared in the melodrama "Dog Days," then took on the leading role as the mother in James Bobin's family adventure film "Dora and the Lost City of Gold." The story about an archaeologist's daughter also featured Isabela Moner and Michael Peña. Filming took place in Australia, where Eva brought her family, including her young son.
…this character is an icon for our Spanish-speaking community worldwide. In the first cartoon movie, she was a little seven-year-old girl, a lover of adventures, a little explorer, and in the new movie, Dora is already 16 years old. My friends from different countries called me and said: 'Oh my god, Eva, are you really going to play our Dora's mom?'. That's another reason why I agreed. Such projects take our culture to a completely new level.
Alongside her film career, Longoria made her mark in modeling. The Spanish edition of "People" named her one of the most beautiful people, while Maxim magazine ranked her first for two consecutive years in their "Hottest Female Celebrities" list.

The groom was eight years younger than the bride and more than a head taller, but this didn't stop them from tying the knot in a Parisian Catholic cathedral. Adding to the romance, they chose the perfect wedding date – 07.07.2007. The actress was radiating happiness and spoke about the tenderness, love, and trust between her and her husband.

The marriage lasted until 2011, and when Eva filed for divorce, she cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason and returned to her maiden name. She kept the real reasons private, though media outlets speculated about her younger husband's alleged affairs.
