Biography of Tomer Capone
Tomer Capone shot to fame in 2019 when the first season of "The Boys" dropped. His vivid portrayal of the frantic, anxious, and slightly unhinged Frenchie quickly won over fans of the series. Many viewers assumed Capone was actually French – but he's not.
Early Years
Tomer Capone was born on July 15, 1985, in Holon, Israel. He was the second child in the family. His father was an immigrant from Iraq, and his mother came from Algeria. His parents ran their own business and were financially comfortable.Tomer spent his childhood in Rishon LeZion, where he attended middle school.
He played his first role in 1993. Hoping to impress a classmate who'd landed a role in the school play, Tomer volunteered to play the Persian king. His plan worked – she noticed him and gave him a half-heart pendant.
When the family hit financial difficulties in 1997, Tomer began looking for ways to make money. His grades suffered, but he still managed to graduate in 2004.
Right after graduation, Tomer was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces. During his seven-year service, Capone worked his way up to platoon commander in the paratrooper brigade. He served during the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and saw action in the 2006 Lebanon War.
After his discharge in 2011, Tomer settled in Tel Aviv's Hatikva neighborhood. He enrolled at the Yoram Levinstein School of Performing Arts for a year of training. To make ends meet, Capone worked as a horse caretaker.
First Roles
Tomer made his screen debut in 2012 with a role in the Israeli youth series "Galis." A year later, he also appeared in the series "Hostages" and "Fauda." Despite diligently hitting the audition circuit, he only landed small parts.In 2016, Capone won the Ophir Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in "One Week and a Day."
Another career milestone came with the 2018 film "When Heroes Fly." Tomer played a Second Lebanon War veteran who teams up with three friends to search for a missing comrade. The project won Best Series at the Cannes Film Festival and was acquired for Netflix in 2019.
The Boys
In summer 2018, Tomer landed the role of Sarge, a drug-addicted chemist nicknamed Frenchie, in Amazon's series "The Boys." The Israeli actor was recommended to showrunner Eric Kripke by his mom, who had seen Capone on TV.While prepping for the audition, Tomer took a huge risk. He filmed one of the scenes right in his girlfriend's backyard in Tel Aviv. Neighbors heard the screaming and called the cops.
"It was a scene with a gun, I was working on camera, swearing in French, all that. Then a couple of Israel Defense Forces officers burst into the yard with guns drawn," Capone recalled.
When "The Boys" premiered its first season in October 2019, it brought success to the entire team. Millions of viewers watched the episodes, and the show became one of Amazon Prime's highest-rated original projects. Soon after, they announced production on the second season. Before the new episodes even premiered in 2020, "The Boys" got renewed for a third season. The episodes were released in the summer of 2022.

Tomer Capone has always been determined to keep his private life private. He shares very little with fans on social media. Fans did discover that the actor has a beloved dog, from whose perspective he often posts stories.Naturally, "The Boys" fans couldn't help but speculate about a romance with actress Karen Fukuhara, who played Kimiko, the super-powered girl that Frenchie was drawn to throughout the series. However, back in 2012, Tomer began dating Israeli actress Ortal Ben-Shoshan.
In spring 2024, Capone let slip that he'd secretly married his beloved a few years earlier. He didn't share details about the ceremony.

In summer 2024, the fourth season of "The Boys" premiered, with Tomer reprising his role as Frenchie. The series was immediately renewed for its fifth and final season.Also in 2024, the feature film "Slingshot" is set to premiere, with Capon in one of the main roles. The story follows a group of astronauts who embark on a deadly mission to Saturn's moon. The cast also includes Casey Affleck and Laurence Fishburne.
