Maria Zakharova published an indignant response to the statement of the Director of the CIA Mike Pompeo.

The head of the American Intelligence Agency said in an interview that Russia and other countries may try to influence elections in the U.S. Congress, scheduled for this year, on 8 January. According to Pompeo, the Russian Federation interfered in the US electoral process for the past decades. The CIA, however, plans to ensure the safety and legitimacy of future elections. We also add that there is an established view in American political circles that the intervention of Russian hackers was able to help Donald Trump to be elected the President of the United States. Russia officially denies such accusations.

As far as the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, she said on her page on Facebook that American partners «lies». According to the diplomat, if Russia has influenced the US election for decades, investigation and movies would have been devoted to it, but up to the last presidential election, such statements and similar materials did not appear in the media. The press room of ZoomBoola.com recalls that in August 2015 Maria Zakharova headed the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry and officially started to represent the position of the Agency in the media. Zakharova attracted the attention of people immediately due to the aggressive style that she chose for her articles and reviews. Moreover, other Russian diplomats began to afford much more cheeky gestures, not to say boorish, since her arrival at this position. To recall, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, whose notorious phrase about «morons» became an Internet meme. There were other similar incidents. So, Deputy of the permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vladimir Safronkov spoke rude to his British counterpart, demanding that he didn't look away when talking to him, and stopped «insulting Russia».
