Samurai vs Cowboys: A Western Set in the John Wick Universe Is in the Works

The John Wick universe keeps expanding. Now a samurai western is joining the familiar neo-noir action films.

According to Variety, the script was written by Austin Everett—a newcomer known so far only for independent shorts and a film with a provocative, lengthy title: "Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out."

He's keeping details under wraps, offering only: "That's probably all I can say."

Meanwhile, Lionsgate is also prepping an animated prequel with anime-style action sequences, where Keanu Reeves will once again voice his iconic character.

But while new projects are just getting started, now's the perfect time to revisit the original franchise films. We at uznayvse ranked them from best to worst:

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

The third film is the absolute peak of the series. Keanu Reeves on horseback, a fight in a gun shop, an insane motorcycle chase with katanas—this is the franchise's style distilled to perfection. Add vibrant new characters, including Asia Kate Dillon and Halle Berry with her combat dogs, and you get a true bouquet of action, thrills, and pure adrenaline.

John Wick

101 minutes of revenge for a murdered puppy. What could be more dramatic than the first film? The finale showdown with a Russian mobster looks modest compared to later entries, but this is where the franchise's signature style was born.

John Wick: Chapter 4

The longest and most ambitious film in the series. Three hours of hypnotic violence, top-down shots, and a duel at sunrise. Mesmerizing Paris cinematography. Sure, a couple of scenes could've been trimmed, but overall it's an epic that truly feels like a final chapter.

John Wick: Chapter 2

The sequel transformed the story into full-blown mythology. Here we first see the assassin's guild world in all its glory, and scenes like the "deadly pencil" turned Wick into a meme.

Ballerina

The spin-off starring Ana de Armas. So far, the weakest link. Ana tries hard, the action's flashy, but the plot is overloaded and gets lost against the main series. The villains are forgettable, supporting characters don't stick. Ballerina feels like a fan-service project that constantly reminds you of the "real" films but can't match their level. And earlier we at zoomboola.com reported that Keanu Reeves wants to star in a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
