Chris Columbus Explains Why He Doesn't Want to Revive "Home Alone"

The original Home Alone film was released in 1990 and soon got a sequel, but everything that was made after that, Home Alone fans prefer to forget.

The director of the first two films in the series told Etonline that he's no longer planning to return to the franchise and try to breathe new life into it: "I think Home Alone exists as something unique, as a special moment in history that can't be repeated. I think it would be a mistake to try to go back and recreate what we did 35 years ago."

The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds: recently Macaulay Culkin, who became famous for playing the boy Kevin in Home Alone, revealed why he loves the second film in particular. As it turns out, the actor was entitled to 5 percent of the film's sales, plus 15 percent from merchandise sales tied to the movie. Worth noting: Donald Trump makes a brief appearance in the second franchise film. Chris Columbus admitted he'd like to cut that moment from the picture, but he's worried Trump might deport him for it. At the same time, the filmmaker noted that audiences really love the Trump moment. The future president landed in the movie through a "barter deal" – he let the film crew work in his hotel in exchange for his cameo in the comedy.
