If you've ever read about meals in Hagrid's hut, you probably remember that the food there could be... unique. His "rock cakes" became especially famous. They're called that not because they're hard to bite through, but because they look like chunks of stone.
But don't let the name scare you off. This is cozy homemade baking with the warm aroma of cinnamon, chocolate, and a light spicy hint of nutmeg. Crispy on the outside and surprisingly tender inside, they really do look like little cobblestones, but they crumble in your hands as soon as you break them.
These magical treats come together quickly — in literally half an hour you'll have a batch of sweet magic for teatime. And if you add some imagination and a few drops of syrup, you can easily picture yourself in Hogsmeade, at a table in the Leaky Cauldron, instead of your own kitchen.

Ingredients (makes 12 cookies):
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet baking powder (2 tsp)
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt and nutmeg to taste
- 1 egg
- 1-2 tbsp milk
- 3.5 oz dark chocolate, finely chopped
How to make them:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Sift flour with baking powder, add soft butter and mix until smooth
- Add sugar and spices, then beat in the egg and, if needed, a little milk
- Gently fold in the chocolate
- Use a spoon to drop dough onto the baking sheet (ping-pong ball size), leaving space between them. Don't worry about perfect shapes — drop them in irregular chunks
- Bake 17-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool and serve!
Happy teatime! Even grumpy Professor Snape wouldn't be able to resist. Earlier on zoomboola.com, we shared how to make Calcifer's breakfast from "Howl's Moving Castle" — scrambled eggs you'll definitely want to recreate.
