What the movie is about
The story unfolds almost in real time. The protagonists' teenage daughter Alice calls her parents with a confession — she hit someone on the road. Panic, anxiety, shattered headlights and broken glass — and then everything gets worse.Turns out no ambulance was called, the body disappears, and a strange woman appears in the woods who speaks too politely to be just a passerby. The parents race to the accident scene, and with each passing minute things get more terrifying — for them, for us, for everyone.
Viewing experience
Director Babak Anvari builds tension on emptiness — literally. Almost the entire film takes place in a car, but it never feels boring for a second. There are no cheap jump scares here — just horror that feels like it could happen to anyone.

Rosamund Pike is simply flawless here — exhausted, confused, determined. Matthew Rhys complements her perfectly — his character torn between wanting to save his daughter and fearing he'll lose everyone. Their duo is the film's greatest strength.
Critics and audience reaction
On Rotten Tomatoes the film has a solid 92% fresh rating, and on IMDb — 7.0 out of 10. Viewers in reviews call the film "simple but powerful," "realistic," and note that the open ending is "the best thing the director could have done with this project.""Hallow Road" isn't your typical scary movie. It's a mirror reflection of the most terrifying nightmare: when your child is in danger and you can't do anything to change it. Earlier we at zoomboola.com told you about the film "It Feeds" — a horror starring the "Twilight" star that doesn't give you a moment to breathe.
