Film of the Day: "It Feeds" — A Horror Featuring the Twilight Star That Never Lets Up

A film where the classic plot about a supernatural threat in a quiet suburb is suddenly presented as a wild rollercoaster ride: from family tragedy to creepy gothic trash.

Director Chad Archibald, known for "The Hollow", decided this time to spare neither viewers nor actors — loading the film with a hellish dose of pace and terror.

What the movie's about

Psychotherapist Cynthia Winstone (Ashley Greene from "Twilight") can penetrate her patients' subconscious minds. She sees clients at her home, with help from her daughter Jordan (Ally O'Brien).

One day, 14-year-old Riley shows up at their door — scared out of her mind. The girl insists something's watching her. Cynthia refuses to get involved — too frightening. But Jordan decides to investigate. She breaks into Riley's house and finds a tied-up woman in the basement. And that's just the beginning.

Viewing experience

"It Feeds" (2024) doesn't let you catch your breath: the film maintains an incredibly high narrative pace. This isn't "slow-burn suspense" where the monster appears in the finale. Here, it's immediate. And it looks absolutely stunning, like old-school creatures. Special thanks go to the makeup team and actress Brooklyn Marshall, who played the creature.

The story itself — yes, it echoes "Insidious" and "The Conjuring". A gifted heroine, evil in the house, possession. But Archibald adds darkness, speed, and light irony.

The result is something between a gothic horror and a teen thriller with genuine tension. Visually — pure cozy nightmare. The music works for atmosphere, the cinematography is pleasant.

What viewers and critics think

On Rotten Tomatoes — 88% "fresh". On IMDb it's more modest so far — 5.6. But viewers admit in reviews: they expected throwaway horror, got an invigorating cocktail of fear.

An IMDb viewer named j0hn22 wrote in his review that the horror has plot holes and some underdeveloped drama, but the practical effects, tension, and acting carry a lot:
This was a very scary, tense film that had a lot of screamers. Additionally, the creature's appearance was very creepy, and the practical effects were executed at the highest level.

Worth watching? If you're tired of horrors where "everything's clear in 10 minutes" — give "It Feeds" a chance. It'll definitely pull you out of your comfort zone. And Jordan and Cynthia are that rare duo you want to follow. Ideally — in a sequel too. Earlier on zoomboola.com we covered the film "Poison" — Benedict Cumberbatch versus a venomous snake.
