Childhood and Family
Sofia was born on April 10, 1993, in the resort city of Fort Lauderdale on Florida's eastern coast. The actress's full birth name is Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char.Sofia's father, José F. Daccarett, is Colombian and moved to the U.S. in his youth, where he met his future wife Laura Char, an American with Colombian roots. The actress has a younger sister named Paulina.
The actress's mother is connected to the Char family, an influential political dynasty in Colombia.
The Carson surname, which brought Sofia to widespread recognition, belonged to her maternal grandmother Lorraine Carson.
By age three, Sofia already knew what she wanted to do with her life. She was obsessed with Disney animated musicals, especially the songs from "Beauty and the Beast."
