Jisoo is a performer from South Korea, a member of the K-pop group Blackpink, a model, songwriter, TV presenter, and actress, one of the most popular Korean female idols. In 2022, the British publication Nubia Magazine awarded the girl - as a result of a five-month readers' vote - the status of the most beautiful woman in the world.

Childhood and Family

Kim Ji-soo, better known by her personal brand name, Jisoo, was born on January 3, 1995, in the picturesque and very musical city of Gunpo. She grew up with her older brother Jung-hoon and sister Ji-yoon.

Her parents, Ha-Joon and Ji-Yoo Kim, were already quite affluent. There were many rumors about what Jisoo's parents did, but none of them were ever confirmed. Fans hypothesized that the singer's father held a high position at the popular music channel Mnet. Jisoo never posted photos of her mother, and she never accompanied her daughter to public events.

Thanks to the financial well-being of the family, the girl had the opportunity for comprehensive development. True success came to the performer in 2016 when she became a member of Blackpink. The all-female group, consisting of four members, skyrocketed to stardom at an incredible speed.

At that time, the performers released their debut album Square One, which contained only two songs - Boombayah and Whistle. The mini-album instantly became popular, not only in Korea, but also in India, Turkey, Malaysia, and Indonesia. At the same time, the girls made their first appearance on stage, charming the audience. In addition to fame, the group received several awards and rave reviews from critics.

However, Jisoo's main activity was singing, so the group didn't delay the release of new songs, and that same year they released a mini-album called Square Two. It also contained only two songs - Playing with Fire and Stay. "Playing with Fire" – the translation of the first – entered the international music charts and reached Canada.

That same year, Jisoo and her group presented a new song called As If It’s Your Last. The music video for this song garnered 10 million views in less than a day, marking a tremendous success. The song topped the iTunes charts, and the group performed shows in several cities in Japan. To please their fans in the Land of the Rising Sun, the group released a mini-album in Japanese. The overwhelming success of As If It’s Your Last led to the song being used in an episode of the film "Justice League."

The group's growing popularity led to the release of the reality show Blackpink House in January 2018. This program showcased the daily lives of the four members of the band: Lisa, Rosé, Jennie, and, of course, Jisoo. Concurrently, Jisoo decided not to renew her contract as the host of Inkigayo.

Blackpink House was a huge gift for the fans, as it allowed them to see their idols from a new perspective. Moreover, the show featured new songs that were later compiled into a mini-album titled Square Up. The songs Forever Young and Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, which became the title track, were particularly loved by the viewers. The album was also very successful, and the group embarked on a tour to Japan.

Soon, Blackpink received an offer to collaborate with Dua Lipa. Together, they sang the song Kiss and Make Up. Jisoo sang in Korean, while the rest of the members sang entirely in English.

According to director Cho Hyun Tak, he initially didn't plan to cast a budding actress for a serious role, but Jisoo impressed him so much during the auditions that he knew she was perfect for it!

Snowdrop tells the story of mass protests that erupted in Korea in 1987. A graduate student from one of the universities hides from law enforcement in a women's dormitory, receiving help from a female student played by Jisoo. Despite the complexity of the situation, romantic feelings spark between the characters, captivating the audience throughout the storyline.

Korean performers seldom share detailed information about their relationships with the public, and Jisoo is no exception. The producers of many K-pop groups are not overly fond of their charges starting romances, believing that it will interfere with their careers and lessen public interest.

Nevertheless, in the summer of 2023, information leaked to the press that Jisoo was dating actor Ahn Bo-Hyun. Their romance was confirmed by both agencies: YG Entertainment (Jisoo's representatives) and FN Entertainment (which Ahn Bo-Hyun collaborates with). Fans were thrilled, closely watching their romance both in Korea and beyond, but by October of the same year, it was announced that the couple had split.

The reason for the breakup was the busy schedule of both artists. Jisoo has numerous projects, including music and films, and the same can be said for Bo-Hyun. And while initially, the stars tried to adjust to each other's schedule, it soon became clear that this was a dead end. Jisoo and Ahn Bo decided to remain on good terms but continue their paths separately.

In one of the videos, Jisoo also announced the release of her solo album, which was released in March 2023 titled "Me", garnering over 1.3 million pre-orders.
