Master Yoda from "Star Wars" Wasn't Originally Green at All

Generations of viewers have remembered Yoda as the little green guy with big ears. Turns out, he could have looked completely different.

Journalists at The Guardian dug through the archives and discovered what the legendary character could have looked like. In the script for the fifth episode of the saga – "The Empire Strikes Back" – Yoda is described as "a strange bluish creature no more than two feet tall, dressed in rags."

As for the early concept art, the master was depicted as a creature in various shades – from colorless to pink. And in the novel that came out alongside the film, Yoda's color is listed as blue.

Meanwhile, in the comics based on "The Empire Strikes Back," Yoda is actually purple and, on top of that, looks like an elf. Why they ultimately decided to make him green remains unknown.
