Third Gremlins Film Ready for Production, But Steven Spielberg Has Yet to Approve the Script

The first film in the "Gremlins" franchise was released in 1984, with the sequel following six years later. Let's revisit what these horror comedies were all about.

According to Zach Galligan, who starred in the original film and its sequel, Warner Bros. is actively working on the third installment of the franchise.

"After 35 years, they finally birthed a script," the actor noted, as reported by Variety. According to Galligan, everyone's now just waiting for the script to get approval from Steven Spielberg, who's serving as executive producer on "Gremlins 3."

The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers that "Gremlins" told the story of an inventor who buys a mysterious creature as a gift for his son, but fails to follow the seller's instructions. From Gizmo – that's the creature's name – evil entities break away. The gremlins wreak havoc throughout the town, forcing the main character to battle them. It's worth noting that interest in "Gremlins" has been revived over the past couple of years thanks to the series "Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai" hitting screens. This spring saw the release of its second season.
