Darth Vader's lightsaber to go up for auction

The auction organized by Propstore will take place in Los Angeles in September. So what's the preliminary estimate experts have placed on this unique lot?

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, we're talking about the lightsaber wielded by the main villain in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The saber was actually handled by David Prowse, who played Vader, and his stunt double Bob Anderson.

Experts claim this is the only Vader lightsaber from the original Star Wars trilogy that's ever been put up for auction. They decided to sell it in honor of the 45th anniversary of the fifth episode's release. The rare piece has been estimated at somewhere between one and three million dollars.

"It's an honor for us to present this historic item. This is a top-tier artifact worthy of the world's finest collections," noted Propstore's chief operating officer. The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers: it was previously revealed that Star Wars creator George Lucas had planned to make three films about another iconic villain – Darth Maul. But this idea never came to life since Disney bought the saga rights from the filmmaker.
