Sarah Michelle Gellar explained why a reboot of `Buffy` is needed

The actress will return to her iconic role with new ideas.

The iconic series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-2002) is set for a reboot. Lead actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to the screen along with some other original characters. The pilot episode is to be directed by Chloe Zhao.

But why do it? Modern reboots of nostalgic projects rarely turn out well. Will the creators of the new series tarnish the fond memories of our youth? In a recent interview, the 48-year-old actress explained why the show should be revived.

According to her, the fact that the series is still being broadcast is wonderful. New viewers still see themselves, their friends, and loved ones in it - those they want to call family. However, the old “Buffy” doesn’t hold the same significance as it used to, and this is troubling. It needs to be modernized.

“I think that now, more than ever, as we become more and more disconnected, we need that chosen family, so I hope to give [viewers] a new chosen family,” Sarah said on The Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM radio.

added that she starred in the original when she was a teenager, and now she has teenage children of her own - and she understands well what they need today. Speaking of vampires, as zoomboola.com writes, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart also decided to revisit the past and signed on for a new thriller about these creatures.
