Mikey Madison refused to star alongside Ryan Gosling in the popular franchise

This event can rightfully be called the main "refusal of the day."

The Oscar winner for Best Actress in the film "Anora" (2024) decided not to participate in an unnamed project set in the "Star Wars" universe. She took part in negotiations but apparently was not interested in the film, which is set to star Ryan Gosling.

The film has been in development since late 2022. Production is being handled by Levy 21 Laps and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

The movie will be a standalone story, unrelated to the Skywalker saga, which concluded in 2019 with "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." Other plot details are being kept under tight wraps.

According to The Insider, casting is currently underway for the roles of a 15-year-old protagonist, his mother, two antagonists, and a key female character, the latter role being offered to . There is no information yet on which character will play.

The reasons for the actress's refusal are unknown. Perhaps she was not interested in the project, or she chose another offer. Recently, it was reported that Madison is being considered for a role in the reboot of "Resident Evil" directed by Zach Cregger.

Journalist Jordan Ruimy from Worldofreel considers this offer "a significant step in her career":
I would not pass up the chance to see Madison kill zombies — it could work. Of course, as far as I can tell, she has just been offered a role in 'Resident Evil,' but if she accepts the invitation, it will be a big event in Madison's career — collaborating with a popular director and a very good fee.
