A landmark action RPG from the Japanese company FromSoftware, released in 2022, will now follow in the footsteps of "Minecraft" and "Mortal Kombat" — the adaptation will be handled by A24 studio, which gave us Yorgos Lanthimos's "The Lobster" and Ari Aster's "Hereditary."
According to Nexuspointnews, Alex Garland will take on the direction and screenplay. The same director who created the cult classics "28 Days Later" (2002) and "Sunshine" (2007).

Alex is joined by an impressive company: producers Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Vince Gerardis, and — attention — George R. R. Martin, the author of the "Game of Thrones" universe. He, along with Hidetaka Miyazaki, helped build the mythology of "Elden Ring."
For those who may not know: the game tells the story of the Tarnished — an outcast called to the Lands Between to gather the shards of the shattered Elden Ring and restore balance. Along the way, they will battle dozens of mad bosses, unravel the darkest secrets, and, if lucky, become the new Elden Lord.
So ahead is another major film at the intersection of fantasy and philosophy. And if anyone can make something more out of Elden Ring than just an adaptation — it's definitely Garland.
In short, a new chapter begins. In the meantime, let's be patient and wait for 2026. Previously, we at zoomboola.com reported on the possible adaptation of the game "The Sims."
