At `Eurovision-2025,` a ballad about love and loneliness by singer JJ won

Which country did the performer represent? And who among his competitors took second and third place? We tell you.

The final of the contest took place in Basel. This year's Eurovision grand prize went to Austria: the winner was 24-year-old singer Johannes Pitch, performing under the pseudonym JJ. His ballad "Wasted Love"—tender, poignant, and absolutely cinematic—scored 436 points.

Johannes performed the song among ship decorations: a sail, a lighthouse, the wind—a metaphor for loneliness, searching, and finally finding. Those who watched his performance noticed that he has a rather strong operatic voice. Pitch is a vocal chameleon, confidently moving from tenor to countertenor.

He first made a name for himself on the British The Voice (team will.i.am), and later reached the finals of the Austrian show Starmania. Today he studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Second place went to Israeli Yuval Rafael with the track New Day Will Rise.

And the bronze went to Estonia and an artist known for his outrageous performances (once, in 2023, he appeared at a Marine Serre show sitting in a baby stroller wearing diapers)—Tommy Cash. He performed the song Macchiato, built on a mix of English, Spanish, and Italian.

Let's add that JJ's song brought Austria its third victory in history: after the wins of Udo Jürgens (1966) and Conchita Wurst (2014).
