Call of Duty Movie to Be Helmed by "Battleship" Director

The iconic video game about special forces and global conflicts has been in development hell since 2015, but until now, the project hasn't gained any traction.

As Deadline reports, director Peter Berg will helm the action film, with Taylor Sheridan—known for "Yellowstone"—writing the screenplay. Interestingly, the "Call of Duty" movie will mark the third collaboration for this duo. They previously worked together on "Lone Survivor" and "Wind River."

The zoomboola.com editorial team notes that a "Call of Duty" adaptation was first announced back in 2015. This September, Paramount and Activision signed a new deal to move the project forward.
The "Call of Duty" games have been releasing since 2003. Originally focused on World War II, the series eventually shifted to modern-day settings and even ventured into the distant future.
