Cult Horror Franchise "Grave Encounters" Set for Reboot

The first film in the series was released in 2011. With a budget of $120,000, it gradually earned $3.6 million, so sequels weren't long in coming.

However, as Variety reports, the original film is getting a "reboot," with actor Justin Long landing the lead role. Long, known for "Drag Me to Hell" and "Barbarian," will also produce the film alongside his wife Kate Bosworth.

The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers: the first film in the series was directed by Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz. They'll be back to helm the reboot as well. The original horror flick was shot in the "mockumentary" or "found footage" style, following a film crew shooting a paranormal reality show. The show's creators find themselves trapped in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, where they face off against a horde of bloodthirsty ghosts.
