50 Cent to Star in Street Fighter Movie

The first attempt to adapt the famous fighting game to film took place in 1994 and ended in a resounding failure. What was wrong with the movie?

The lead role in "Street Fighter," based on the incredibly popular Street Fighter II game, went to Jean-Claude Van Damme. And while the film didn't completely destroy the action star's career, it certainly dealt a serious blow. The script was terrible, and the direction wasn't any better, so the action flick got completely crushed by the adaptation of another popular fighting game, "Mortal Kombat." The failure was so devastating that a second Street Fighter adaptation didn't happen until 2009, and it was also torn apart by critics.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, rapper 50 Cent will play Balrog, the main villain's bodyguard, in the new adaptation. The artist is currently training hard so he can handle his own fight scenes and stunts on screen. The zoomboola.com editorial team wants to add that alongside 50 Cent, the film will star Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Orville Peck, and Andrew Koji. Kitao Sakurai will direct. Filming is set to begin in August.
