"The Social Network 2" will be directed by the screenwriter of the first film

The film created by David Fincher collected impressive box office receipts and won the love of audiences and professional critics. The screenplay for it was written by Aaron Sorkin.

The first film told the story of Mark Zuckerberg's youth and how he managed to create the world's most famous social network. The movie had plenty of drama and sharp moments, with Zuckerberg presented more as an antihero than a hero – which is exactly why audiences loved it.

According to Deadline, Sorkin himself will take the director's chair for the second film. The idea for the movie formed in the screenwriter's mind after the events of January 6, 2021, when Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol. The screenwriter believes the social network played a huge role in this, and the film will explore that connection.

The zoomboola.com editorial team wants to add that nothing is known yet about the sequel's release date. It's also unclear whether , who played Zuckerberg in the first film, will appear in the new movie. Personally, I think the story told in the first film was complete. Continuing it directly would be sacrilege, though in my opinion, it's not Fincher's best work anyway.
