Michael Douglas Reveals Conditions for His Return to Cinema

The famous actor hasn't appeared in films since 2022, and this was a deliberate choice. In his new interview, he explained why.

As Variety reports, during a chat with journalists at the Karlovy Vary festival, Michael admitted that his absence from the big screen is partly health-related. The actor is currently undergoing treatment – he's been diagnosed with throat cancer, but fortunately, surgery wasn't necessary.

Still, the main reason hasn't been filming since 2022 is his desire to take care of himself: "I've worked pretty hard for almost 60 years and I didn't want to be one of those people who drops dead on set."

That said, the 80-year-old actor is ready to return to screens, but only if he's offered some kind of "special project." Right now, he's working on his own screenplay for a small film. The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers that Douglas is a two-time Oscar winner. In 1976, he was honored as producer of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and in 1988, he earned an Oscar as an actor for his role in "Wall Street."
