Danny Boyle Explains Why He Didn't Direct "Alien"

This is about the fourth film in the franchise, which was ultimately directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. But why did Boyle turn it down?

As Games Radar reports, at one point the director of the cult film Trainspotting was seriously considered as the top contender to helm Alien: Resurrection, and he even met with the film's leading actresses – Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder.

"Obviously, it was all very serious. They were wonderful," Boyle noted, revealing why he ultimately didn't take on the project. According to him, this was the era of transitioning to computer graphics, Alien had tons of it, and the director felt he "couldn't handle" that kind of work. So despite being a huge fan of Alien, Danny was forced to pass.

Instead of making the horror flick, the director started work on A Life Less Ordinary, which ultimately bombed at the box office. "I didn't do Alien, and I went and made this flop for them (20th Century Fox) instead! But what's done is done," the director laments. The zoomboola.com editorial team reminds readers that this August, Hulu will premiere the series Alien: Earth, which brings the action of the famous sci-fi horror franchise to our planet.
