Kate Winslet without makeup and with unwashed hair: in this brilliant mini-series, she amazed the viewers

The actress herself demanded to shoot "without embellishments."

Everyone remembers the beautiful Kate Winslet as Rose from “Titanic.” But a lot of time has passed since the film's premiere. The actress is nearing 50 and is not hiding the fact that she is aging, just like all women. Most importantly, she doesn't aim to enhance her appearance with plastic surgery. She doesn't aspire to play the roles of fatal seductresses in movies either.

However, she clearly enjoys dramatic deep roles. And the miniseries “Mare of Easttown” is a vivid confirmation of this. On IMDb, the series scored an impressive 8.2 out of 10. Critics say her role in this dark and engaging project from the very first scenes became one of the best in 's entire filmography. Richard Roeper from Chicago Sun-Times writes about “one of the most resonant performances” in the actress's career.

We won't reveal the plot in detail. We'll only hint that along with the main character, detective Mare Sheehan, the viewer will go through many challenges over the course of 7 episodes. While investigating the disappearance of a girl in a small town, Mare will also have to deal with problems in her own family.
Interestingly, the creators were categorically against Kate appearing on screen with practically no makeup, considering the already not too positive nature of her character. But Winslet was adamant. She deliberately didn't wash her hair and didn't use makeup. Moreover, deeply immersed in the role of Mare, the actress sometimes confused what was happening on set with reality.
