Chris Columbus revealed what Kevin`s parents from `Home Alone` did for a living

Thirty-four years after the release of the first part of the family comedy "Home Alone" about a boy named Kevin who was accidentally left home alone, the film's director Chris Columbus revealed to fans what the main character's parents actually did for a living.

Viewers have been asking such questions for many years. They wondered how Kevin's parents could afford such a luxurious house, where the unsupervised boy in the plot tried to fend off burglars.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the director noted that he and the film's producer, John Hughes, had planned the main characters' occupations in advance.

Kevin's mother, brilliantly played by Catherine O'Hara, was a successful fashion designer, as evidenced by the mannequins in their basement.

As for the father, played by John Heard, the director couldn't remember his exact profession but suggested that the character, like Hughes himself, might have worked in advertising.

Columbus also debunked the popular fan theory about the family's connection to the criminal world.

Although organized crime was indeed flourishing in Chicago at the time, it had nothing to do with the McCallisters' home being targeted by burglars Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern).

Zoomboola.com reminds us that recently another significant event related to this film occurred.

In early December, we reported that the actors from "Home Alone" reunited for the first time in 30 years. The actors who played the McCallister children met at an event at Pandora's Box Toys & Collectibles in New Jersey.

Later, the actors shared an adorable group photo. Unfortunately, Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin, could not attend the reunion.
