The creator of `Black Panther` is preparing a new series — and it`s going to be something

Four series. One world. A new chapter of Marvel.

What happens when you mix a superhero epic with ancient mythology, a spy thriller, and hand-drawn animation? Marvel believes it will create an explosive mix that will appeal to fans of the cinematic universe and those nostalgic for the days of Black Panther.

In August 2025, the animated miniseries "Eyes of Wakanda" will premiere on Disney+, and it's backed by none other than Ryan Coogler — the mastermind behind Marvel hits and one of the studio's leading visionaries.

The Series That Will Change the Game

Unlike other Marvel series, the action in "Eyes of Wakanda" takes place within the sacred timeline. This means that everything shown in these four episodes is directly connected to the films of the cinematic universe.

At the center of the story are the elite Hatut Zeraze warriors, who have been traveling the world for centuries in search of lost vibranium artifacts. As the Hatut Zeraze discover the rest of the world, they face various challenges that test their loyalty to Wakanda, said Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation.

How about this idea: scenes in Ancient Egypt, New York, and on the Moon—all in one story? And all of this in recognizable hand-drawn animation inspired by the works of contemporary African American artists.

Who's Behind the Project?

The producer and inspiration for the project is Ryan Coogler, the man who brought us both films about T'Challa and raised the bar for superhero movies. On Rotten Tomatoes, his "Black Panther" holds a 96% rating, while the sequel has a respectable 84%. It will be interesting to see if the series can replicate this success.

The showrunner and lead designer of the project is Todd Harris, who previously worked on "Mufasa: The Lion King" and "John Wick 4" (which scored over 7.5 on IMDb). The voice cast includes Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Larry Herron, and others—not top-tier names, but with strong acting backgrounds.

Why Should We Wait?

The series, according to zoomboola.com, promises not only spectacle but also a deep dive into mythology. "Eyes of Wakanda" is not just about hunting for artifacts. It is a story about duty, culture, memory, and struggle. And, according to the creators, the series will pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman — the actor who made T'Challa a living Marvel legend.

Moreover, animation is the perfect format for epic stories without the constraints of sets and budget. Filming around the world has inherent limitations that simply don't exist in animation, stated the show's showrunner.

What Awaits Us in August?

A miniseries of four episodes is more of a concentrate rather than a prolonged story. Each episode promises to be intense and maintain its pace. Marvel Studios Animation and Proximity Media are clearly focusing on quality over quantity.

Personally, I have some skepticism after several "run-of-the-mill" Marvel animated series — but this one seems different. Perhaps "Eyes of Wakanda" will be the first Marvel animated series perceived not as an "addition" but as an important part of the cinematic universe. Are you ready to return to Wakanda — even if it's animated?
