The New X-Files Is Happening. What Do We Know About the Series Reboot?

The original series ran intermittently from 1993 to 2018 and was beloved by millions of sci-fi and mystery fans.

As Variety reports, Ryan Coogler, fresh off his horror film "Sinners," will serve as showrunner for the new series. The director revealed that one of the biggest reasons he decided to take on "The X-Files" was his mother – a devoted fan of the original show. "She's already read some of what I've written for the series, and she's thrilled," Coogler admitted.

The director couldn't confirm rumors yet about whether "X-Files" stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will return to the series. As zoomboola.com reminds readers: in the original series, Anderson and Duchovny's characters worked for the FBI, investigating paranormal incidents and mysterious disappearances. While Duchovny's Agent Mulder was inclined to see the unexplained in everything, Anderson's Scully was the skeptic of the pair. The dynamic between these two completely different characters was a huge part of what made the show so beloved.
