Evangeline Lilly is a famous Canadian actress who became popular for her leading role in the «Lost» TV series. She made a success by playing in the first and second parts of «The Hobbit» trilogy film by Peter Jackson and the «Ant-Man and the Wasp» superhero picture by Marvel. Net worth: $15 million.

Childhood and youth

Nicole Evangeline Lilly was born on 3 August 1979 in a province of Canada named Alberta, in Fort Saskatchewan. Her father was a lecturer of economics and her mother was a consultant at the beauty salon. The parents were very religious which is the reason why Evangeline and her both younger sisters were raised strictly. There was no television at home and the children visited the cinema less than 3 times a year.

Despite the restrictions, Eva was growing a real tomboy. She fearlessly rafted the canoe alongside boy-friends, conquered steep mountain slopes, participated in cycling races. At the same time, she was a sensitive and sympathetic girl. When she was a teenager she joined a volunteer organization that helped children in a difficult state of life.

Evangeline taught at a Christian Sunday school and went to the Philippines to help the sick and poor within the framework of a charity mission. The girl lived in a thatched hut right in the middle of the jungle, steadfastly endured the features of the tropical climate, and courageously endured the bites of insects swarming around.

Returning to Canada she thought of entering the faculty of International Relations of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. A job was necessary in order to pay for the education and Evangeline got a job as a waitress though she did not work there for long. The modest girl was confused by the behavior of the visitors who examined her from head to toe and greasily joked.

She became a flight attendant, considering that passengers aboard the airliner will behave more restrained. But facing the same problem in the sky the girl went to work at the gas station, dressed in a baggy robe. There she met hockey player Murray Hone who then became a good friend of hers, afterward her husband. It was he who advised the girl to feel free to use external data which she had generously been awarded by nature and contact the modeling agency.

Acting career

Taking his advice, Lilly soon started to appear in commercials and was shot by glossy editions. The contract with Ford Models in 2001 was a real success for the starting model, the agent of which had noticed the effective girl right on the street. Soon Evangeline was offered jobs in cinema and TV.

In 2003 she played a schoolgirl in an American horror film «Freddy vs. Jason» and a year later shot along the «Smallville» and «Kingdom Hospital» series and even led a television show in which single men and women were looking for a partner.

Suddenly she was approved for the leading role instead of actress Yunjin Kim, what was planned initially. True, Evangeline was almost late for the shooting because of problems with the American visa, but still managed to prepare documents on time and not let the film crew.

The character of Kate Austen which Evangeline diligently played for 6 seasons of the «Lost» became a real gift of fate for the unknown Canadian actress. The series won several prestigious cinematographic awards in which Lilly worthily got 13. And though the girl wasn’t eager to devote her further life to cinema, the directors had other plans on her.

In 2008 the actress played in two pictures at once – the «Afterwards» and «The Hurt Locker». Already in 2011, The «Real Steel» picture was released where Evangeline played the leading role.

Three years later Evangeline played elf Tauriel in «The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug» iconic fantasy alongside Orlando Bloom and Lee Pace and appeared in the final part of the trilogy a year later.

The picture «Ant-Man» was released where Lilly played the girl wasp, dressed in a suit capable of reducing her to the size of an insect in a split second. The film was met with great enthusiasm what inspired the producers to create the second part «Ant-Man and the Wasp» (2018). If the wasp Hope van Dyne wasn’t in the center of the narrative in the first part, she took an equivalent position alongside Ant-Man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd).

It was easy for the actress to get used to the image of a superwoman as she spends a lot of time in sports and is in great physical shape. Even the sophisticated, specially designed latex suit didn’t make a serious problem for her. The main motivator for taking part in the project was her little son Kahekili who is incredibly proud that his mom is the Wasp.

In 2003 Lilly married loyal Murray Hone who we had already mentioned above but soon realized that she was more friendly to him than romantic.

On the set of the «Lost» the actress first really fell in love. Her choice was actor Dominic Monaghan, who played rocker and drug-addict Charlie who was later famous for playing Merry in «the Lord of The Rings».

Honestly confessing to her husband and filing a divorce Evangeline totally plunged into a new relationship. Their romance lasted three years, Dominic even made her an offer but the wedding didn’t take place.

In 2011 it became known that the actress is pregnant from Norman Kali, assistant to the director of the «Lost». Baby Kahekili was born in March whose name is translated from Hawaiian as «the thunder». The couple became parents for the second time in 2015.
