Hero Fiennes Tiffin is an English actor and model, best known for his role as the 11-year-old Tom Riddle, a young version of the main antagonist, Lord Voldemort, in the movie "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009). Childhood and Family

Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes Tiffin was born on November 6, 1997, in London. His parents are directors George Tiffin and Martha Fiennes, the sister of actors Ralph and Joseph Fiennes. Hero is not the only child in the family: he has an older brother, Titan Nathaniel (born 1995), and a younger sister, Mercy Jini Willow (born 2001).

Hero received his education at Emmanuel School in Battersea, a private school in southwest London, founded as early as 1594 by Queen Elizabeth I. Notable alumni of this school include the star of the series "Lost," Naveen Andrews, the director of "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi," Richard Marquand, actor Ben Moore, and other famous people.

Acting Career

Hiro made his film debut at barely 10 years old. He appeared in the English drama "Bigga Than Ben" (2008) about two Russian guys (portrayed by Ben Barnes and Andrei Chadov) who come to London in pursuit of adrenaline and success.

His second role as a schoolboy - though a supporting one - brought him worldwide fame. Fiennes Tiffin played young Voldemort in the sixth film about the little wizard, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009). Thousands of young actors auditioned for the role of the Dark Lord at age 11, but Hiro got the part.

It's likely that family connections played a part: after all, Voldemort after the resurrection was played by Hiro's uncle, Ralph Fiennes. However, the film's director David Yates announced in an interview that the boy got the role solely thanks to his acting talent and ability to bring out "all the darkest" during the reading. The physical resemblance between the uncle and nephew was another "deciding factor".

The filming team was pleased with Hiro's work. Yates called Fiennes Tiffin a "very ambitious and disciplined" young actor who best embodied the mysterious character on screen.

Hiro's next role came only three years later - the high school student appeared in a small role in the war drama "Private Peaceful" (2012), set during World War I in Flanders. Fiennes Tiffin appeared on screens as the main character in his early years; the grown-up Charlie Peaceful was played by Jack O'Connell.

By the age of 18, Hiro already knew clearly that he wanted to work in the film industry. He began actively going to castings, but luck did not always favor the young actor. In particular, Hiro failed auditions for roles in the Netflix series "Stranger Things", in the films "Dunkirk" (2017) and "The Hate U Give" (2018). However, he was eventually offered something worthwhile.

In 2017, director Baz Luhrmann, author of blockbuster hits "Moulin Rouge" (2001) and "The Great Gatsby" (2013), took an interest in him. Luhrmann was looking for an actor for the lead role in his short film for the ERDEM and H&M clothing brands collaboration.

The four-minute film "The Secret Life of Flowers" was shot in a large country mansion, lavishly decorated with fresh buds and candles. Besides Hiro, other young talents participated in the shooting - dark-skinned model Fernando Cabral, "Amundsen" star Ruby Dagnall, Dutch artist Saskia de Brauw, actor Tom Rhys Harries and others. Like many other Luhrmann films, "The Secret Life of Flowers" turned out to be a real work of cinematic art with its inherent passion and drama.

After the release of the commercial directed by the famous director, Hiro's career took off. In 2018, Hiro appeared in an episode of the popular series "The Tunnel" with Stephen Dillane and Clémence Poésy.

Soon, the young man landed an important role in the supernatural series "Safe", which revolves around a pediatric surgeon (Michael C. Hall), a widowed father of two teenage daughters.

In January 2019, Fiennes Tiffin could be seen in a supporting role in the British drama series "Cleaning Up", at the center of which is cleaner Sam Cook (Sheridan Smith), who unexpectedly finds herself immersed in the dark world of finance.

In addition to acting in films, Hiro also works as a model. He signed a contract with the modeling agency Storm Models, after which he appeared on the covers of popular magazines Indie and Wonderland, and also participated in several fashion shows.

On April 18, 2019, the melodrama "After" by Jenny Gage, based on the eponymous bestseller by Anna Todd, was released. The film tells the story of two teenagers - shy Tessa (Josephine Langford) and rebel Hardin (Hiro Fiennes Tiffin) - whose passionate romance divides their life into before and after. Interestingly, Todd's book was originally a fanfic about One Direction's lead singer, Harry Styles. However, Hardin bears little resemblance to Harry, and the novel's plot is not based on facts.

The role of Hardin brought Hiro international fame, and new parts of the melodrama, so loved by the audience, began to be released every year: "After We Collided" (2020), "After We Fell" (2021), "After Ever Happy" (2022) and "After Forever" (2023).

Simultaneously, Fiennes Tiffin starred in the crime thriller "The Silencing" (2020) alongside Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Annabelle Wallis.

In 2022, the promising actor could be seen in three feature projects at once. He played the lead role in the melodrama about youthful feelings facing serious trials, "First Love", alongside Sydney Park.

Additionally, Hiro played the leading role - once popular with girls, but now, alas, dead handsome Mitch, who volunteered to help his friend Oliver (Max Harwood) with finding love - in the comedy "The Loneliest Boy in the World". He also appeared in the historical drama "The Woman King" with Viola Davis in the lead role.

  • It seems to me that it would be better for Fiennes-Tiffin to work as a model, just to match him, but in the cinema he is somehow weak...

  • The film «Private Peaceful» is worthy, only that Tiffin was plain for me, and Jack O Connell struck again.
