Bryce Dallas Howard was born in sunny Los Angeles and grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her destiny seemed predetermined: her father is the world-renowned director Ron Howard, known for "A Beautiful Mind" and "The Da Vinci Code," and her mother is the writer and actress Cheryl Howard.

Her parents made sure that Bryce and her siblings had a childhood away from show business. Bryce attended a regular school in Greenwich under the name Bryce Dallas, so she wouldn't be recognized only as "Howard's daughter."
We weren't coddled in the usual way. When I was horrified at the sight of snakes in my childhood, my mother gave me a pet snake.
