Jodie Foster Nearly Drowns on the Set of the New `True Detective`

Last month, the premiere of the fourth season of "True Detective" took place. Jodie Foster played the lead role of Police Chief Liz Danvers, who investigates the disappearance of polar explorers in Alaska.

Foster, known for her roles in "Taxi Driver" and "The Silence of the Lambs," shared a story in a recent GQ interview that almost ended tragically.

During the filming of one of the series' final scenes, Foster's character falls through the ice. A special tank was constructed on set, and to ensure the actress sank quickly, weights were integrated into her jacket and boots. However, something went wrong:
It was completely dark and I couldn’t wear contact lenses, so I couldn't see. Everything, except for one small area [of the surface] was closed, so I couldn't figure out how to get to the top. And, because I was weighted, I couldn’t, even if I tried.
Jodie started to panic. As soon as the cut was completed, a freediver jumped into the tank and pulled her out.

A similar incident occurred 11 years ago with actress Isla Fisher during the filming of the thriller "Now You See Me." Her character, a magician, was supposed to escape from a water tank with her hands chained. The chain got stuck, Fisher began to suffocate, but the filming crew mistook her panic for acting talent, and she was rescued at the last moment.

For Foster, the "True Detective" incident is not the only unforeseen event in her long career. In 1972, as a child, she acted in the Disney film "Napoleon and Samantha." The film involved three lions, and one suddenly grabbed her in its mouth. Everyone ran away except for the trainer, who managed to persuade the lion to release Jodie.
